A farewell tempo beat from drums in the stands where Eastern wind symphony members watched friends graduate from their own ranks. May 3's commencement ceremonies featured about 1,659 students who met or will meet graduation requirements during the spring and summer semesters.

The USI Board of Trustees decided May 10 to indefinitely postpone voting on a resolution that would provide insurance benefits to same-sex domestic partnerships.

With seven games left in the regular season, the SIU baseball team has plenty of work to do before the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament begins May 21. The Salukis (26-20, 7-11 MVC) got in the win column with a 5-4 escape against Creighton Sunday but were unable to win the series with six games left in conference play.
